Siwocco refers back to Dr. Jivaka Kumura Phaccha. He developed massage as an alternative for curing ailments over 2500 years ago. The pronunciation of his name in Thai sounds like Siwocco. He is regarded as the founding father of Traditional Thai Massage.
In 1832, King Rama III allowed texts about the methods of massage to be inscribed in a wall of the Temple which bore the name Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn or, its abbreviated name Wat Po (Temple Po). He hoped that this would preserve massage methods for posterity.
During a visit by King Bhumibol Adulyadej to the temple in December 1964, the founder came by the idea of setting up a school for Traditional Thai Massage. This school is based at Wat Po and is called the Wat Po Thai Traditional Medical School. Even though there are numerous courses for Thai massage, Siwocco Wellness deliberately chose to adhere to the top quality Wat Po Thai Traditional Medical School methods.
We are honouring Dr. Jivaka (Siwocco) by providing authentic Traditional Thai Massage to our customers.
